5k p/ year in maintenance is an absolutely ridiculous number. Only if the car's been abused and youve got very bad luck will you run into 5k p/ year. I mean, a complete engine rebuild w/ upgraded pistons and rods and Sport 500's and labor could be had for 5.5k to 6k. But, after that, what else is gonna go wrong that's going to cost 5k per year? You figure the tranny one year (good used tranny plus labor 1k). Tires every couple of years ($500 to $1000). Suspension (roughly 1k). Even stuff like a 60k package can be bought and installed for well under 1k. The chances of all of this being needed close to the same time is absurd. I've had my TTZ for 6 months (185k), and, I replaced the oil pressure sending unit, starter relay, brake pads, ss lines (total w/ labor well under $400) Keeping my fingers crossed though and hoping compression #'s are high =)
