Couple reasons. Bottom line is.. turbocharged cars just aren't as cool. Yes, they are more efficient than supercharged cars, but its how they do it. Turbochargers (generally speaking, not all of them) take a while to "spool up" before you see any real gain, resulting in more high-end power, but not as much low-end power. I am a lazy person, I don't like to shift, therefore its nice to be able to get power from anywhere.. revving up to 7500 RPMs just to pass a minivan isn't just cool. The point loss here is designed to partially offset the horsepower point gain (which should be alot, if turbochargers are really all that efficient). Plus.. the word 'supercharged' just sounds so much more bad-ass than 'turbocharged', sorry. If you don't like it, kiss my ass." Why is "ram air, or NA" more cool than turbos? WHat a stupid ass! NA means naturally aspirated. If you have less than eight cylinders, there's no way w/o turbocharging to make any decent HP w/an NA. "ram air"? This adds maybe 10HP max at 80mph+. Stupid ass. Then he admits he doesn't like to shift. Right, he knows what he's talking about as far as what's cool. Only cool drivers drive automatics. I don't think so.
