| it's not good for you to snort, drink or bathe in toluene. I also don't recommend smoking a cigarette are having any open flames near it, lol. Now, look up the MSDS on gasoline. I bet it's about the same, although I haven't checked. As far as solvents go, toluene is pretty safe stuff. Plus, I'm really not interested in arguing the point, since my original post was about the performance aspect of adding it to my gas tank, and not how safe the stuff is or isn't. But here's my two cents because I basically can't resist a scientific debate: Everything I wrote about toluene above were direct quotes from the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, a branch of the Federal Governement's Department of Health and Human Services, the same folks that bring you the FDA, Medicare, the NIH, and the CDC, to name a few. I also quoted the Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety (no Canadian jokes, please). I don't want to sound too elitist, but those sources out-rank a California MSDS, who's view on the environment borderlines on the paronia at times, IMHO One of the main points is keeping PERSPECTIVE on all these chemicals that are evaluated by the government and other entities. That takes experience, and not just looking up an MSDS sheet. Occupational health also happens to be one of my areas of expertise for which I went to school WAY too long. A splash of toluene on your hands isn't going to do sh*t. The limited animal model experiments that are available (rats and mice) suggest that there is no link between toluene and cancer. They simply have not been able to induce cancer in the lab rat using toluene, which is the basis for most of the carcinogenecity classifications of substances like toluene. It's already used as a gasoline additive, by the way. There are a lot more toxic substances sitting around in the lab, in people's garages, and on the hardware shelves than toluene. My biggest concern is where I can get the stuff cheaper. 'Nuff said :c)
