Message I bought it off Ebay. Only 20min. away from me, so I went and looked at it. Nothing major, just waked around the outside, sat inside (VERY clean interior) started the engine (sounds great) but still I know nothing, so I took a good friend who does, and he was more interested talking to the seller about something.
Turns out, I won the auction. I asked If i could take it for a test drive before I made the deposit. He said "sure." I asked if I could take it to a Nissan dealer to have them do their 31 point inspection or whatever, and he said "I dont want it out of my possesion for that long." Tried to get him to take it, but again, said he didnt have time.
So I take it on the "regular" test drive, and go around the corner to a FireStone. They put it up on the jacks, check it out, and hand me the keys "Gonna need some new exhaust soon and probably some rear rotors, but other than that...looks great." I thought this was great (since I was planning on putting new exhaust anyway)
I knew it had been in an accident, cause the airbags have been blown. But the seller told me a small bump can cause them to blow. So I end up getting the car...($7050 at auction end)
I take it to Nissan to have them do the airbags, (they wanted $5000+) so I get in a scuffle with them, and some how (forget where the conversation went) they inspected the car for me. As soon as they lifted the car it was like a big neon sign pointing to the frame. They took these pics and suggested I get a lawyer.
I contacted the seller, wanting to get my money back and give him his car back (ive had the car for 3 weeks at this point) He says he'll give me $6000 back for the car. Didnt sound like a deal to me...
I talk to a few lawyers and they tell me I should have taken the $6000, and that if I want to go to court it will take bout a year and a half.
I really just wanna drive my Z, so I have been taking it to a few shops. Seems like each one I take it to finds something new. Ive been quoted everything from $600 (not written) to $6000, but most places refuse to work on it because its so messed up. A place I JUST took it to (who actually found the Mud in the frame) quoted ~$2500, and are willing to work on it. But said Id be better off suing this guy and buying a TT.
WHEW! Sorry its so long...my hands hurt now.
