from the outlet at the compressor all the way to the throttle body. Exchanging some piping for some intercooler may not be a bad thing, if a cooler intake charge results and any net pressure drop is not consequently too much of a trade off. Theorectically, if space permitted, the flow rate issues could be offset to some extent with the appropriate-sized intercooler core, and any pressure drop could perhaps be mitigated to some extent as well through modifications. Is this the best setup for stock turbo cars? I'd certainly find lots of things to spend my $ on first. Do I give a s*%@ what the FMIC looks like? Nope. I'd rather the car looks totally stock from the front. I don't think anyone is arguing that having the intakes behind an FMIC means you are then taking in hot air, and relocating the intakes to where the side mounts were is a better option in that case. As far as whether the FMIC results in hotter coolant temps, it shouldn't be too hard for some people to start sharing some experience (before/after, Techtom/gauge numbers). How many of you for or against have talked with FMIC owners with Techtoms? Anyone? I still find it humorous that so many people are 100% adamant that FMICs are totally useless. That being said, Bryan, you need to start listening to these guys (seasoned veterans, all!) and sell me your Border at a fire sale price. FMICs are totally useless, a performance killer, and are a ricey, just-for-looks wannabe mod that can only hinder your Z's performance, and you know how I like that shiny, flashy stuff. It is not a Supra, dammit! Can't we just get that through our thick heads?
