Message I have both my Craftsman 3 ton jack and the HF 2 ton. I probably wouldn't recommend using the aluminum jack as your main jack, however. Maybe it's because of its light weight but it just doesnt seem as 'sturdy' as my solid steel Craftsman. However, I dont regret buying it one bit. There's definitely more effort using the aluminum jack but the entry is lower than the Craftsman so I can get to those hard to reach jack points on my lowered car. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to carry a jack with you (track events, etc, etc) then I highly recommend getting one. If you're the kind of person who doesnt move their jack more than 10-20 yards in and around your garage/driveway then stick with a Craftsman or similar. For comparison, the Craftsman weighs just under 100lbs while the HF one weighs just under 40. The HF has a lower entry but I think the Craftsman has a higher lift. One thing I didnt like about the HF jack was that there was no 'safety' for when you reach the maximum lifting height. With the Craftsman I can pump forever and when it reaches max height it wont go any further and bleeds off the fluid. The aluminum jack will slowly begin to lock until you cant move the handle any more. On more than one occasion I thought it was more resistance and tried to pump harder before I caught myself. Anyway, here's some pics. It's not quite as pretty now as it was when I first got it though. :)
