My helmet (lol) and I are headed back down to the Sebring International Raceway to do Speed Ventures. I'm staying at the Chateau Elan on site, one of the nicest hotels in Sebring. However, if you've been to orange grove country in FL, you know that ain't sayin' much, lol. I've been attending the races down there since I was a kid, but this is the first time I will be driving on the track. I'm not doing it so much from a "see how fast I can go" perspective, but rather I just want to get out on the track I've been going to all these years, and enrich my overall Sebring experience. I'm sure I won't have any problem opening her up on the straightaway, lol. I've got my car peaking at just the right time. She's never run better. I've seen Mario Andretti, Peter Revson, Steve McQueen, Paul Newman, Peter Gregg, Hurley Haywood, Bobby Rahal, Juan Manuel Fangio II, Hans Stuck, Boris Said, Ron Fellows, Derek Bell, David Hobbs, Stephan Johanssen, Craig T. Nelson, Tim Allen, and A.J. Foyt race there to name a few. Nissan had a dominating win at Sebring in 1989 which ended Porsche's 13-year winning streak, YES!. The next year, Nissan won again and the top three cars all finished on the same lap - first time in Sebring history. Despite heavy rains, the following year in 1991 a record crowd watched Nissan take its third straight victory. The ZX car was a dominant force in the 12 Hours of Sebring back in those days. I'm taking the Amtrak Auto Train down once again, since my trial run with my z31 went so well last March. Non-stop from VA to FL. You leave at 4PM, they feed you dinner, sleep, you get breakfast, and the train arrives in Sanford, FL around 9AM the next morning. Sweet. And no, you don't sit in your car for the entire time, lol. Saves putting those miles on my precious baby. I'm going to bring my digital camera this time, and try to post a little travelogue when I get back. I'll miss you guys but not too much since I'll have my hands full . I meeting a chiquita from TX. Picking her up at the Orlando International Airport after I disembark from the Auto Train. Met her twice in two days - at a birthday party in Jersey last month, then the next day at the Philadelphia Art Museum for a Degas exhibit. And Yugo, she's no baby momma, lol ;c)
