I just talked with Race engineering whose is distributor of CP pistons. With a miniumum of 3 sets made we can get
pricing of the pistons with rings for $551. Here are features the (ALL) the pistons and rings will have. 89 mm bore
Detonation grooves on top land
Gas accumulater groove between first and second land to aid in sealing
Stock pin offset
Stock compression
New technology rings from Nippon.
Steel chrome face rings which are 1 mm instead
of 1.5 mm. These rings seal better and have less
drag or friction than standard 1.5 mm rings.
They also have less wear on the cylinders as well.
We need a minumum of 3 sets made to get the group buy price otherwise it would normally be $850 per set.
I am already getting a set. So we need two more. All custom pistons manufactors use the same alloy aluminum and same process for making pistons. CP pistons was started by guys from JE and some Ross partners as well. You can go to their website [ www.cppistons.com ] . What make CP pistons different from the others is their finishing process is nicer and more precise. They supposely have a tighter tolerance on the ring land machining compared to others.
