: Can you explain to me what the driveshaft does exactly and whats the core (does that include core and if not how much is the core) 
the stock unit is a 2 piece design. the unit that these guys refer to is a one piece unit (sans center bearing). The one pictured above is my Powertrain Industries one piece steel unit (most guys are going with the aluminum one). the driveshaft transmit the torque from the transmission to the rear differential, which then distributes the torque to the wheels. a lighter , more efficient driveshaft lessens the amount of mass needed to rotate, thus, more power is "freed" up.
