After the flat-bed tow (evil eye on the driver as he carrrrrrefully rolled it onto the truck), and careful scutiny at the shop, the "over-torque" theory was the best we could come up with. "Nice" clean breaks on all three, so we replaced the other two, also. Of course the other side was retorqued. Nothing conclusive in removing any of the remaining bolts... Fairly unnerving, given the potential.... Thanks for the sympathetic responses, and watch your wrench... (not wench)
