Message Don't Supras have only the one side mount for their inline 6? If that's the case, going to a huge FMIC most likely gave them more power because they ran higher boost safely. Hell, they may have even been slightly detonating on that very same boost without it. From what I understand of FMICs, it's ludicrous for them to give you a huge power gain JUST from swapping them out unless the stock design is utterly rediculous, blocking a big chunk, etc. Even then, 50RWHP...no way. It'd have to be something else raised. Sure, a cooler charge is great and of course helps out...but it isn't that drastic on Z cars from what before/after I HAVE seen. Greg has also talked extensively about this.

Versus stock intercoolers, a big FMIC would clearly cool better and allow more boost, but the pressure drop is supposed to be quite huge (of course, this is what you want to test, I understand that :). The theory goes that a decent set of Stillen/Greddy side mounts will be plenty of flow up to 800hp+ without suffering from the drawbacks of an FMIC. Of course, that's the theory :)

I'd love to get someone to test this further.
