Message works well to get past the extra ~25% duty/taxes we canucks have to pay to get things from stateside. Evidently items marked as a "Warranty Replacement" don't have to have the value declared at under $60CAD either. This is helpful when the shipper doesn't want to change the value of the package for insurance purposes. UPS will charge brokerage on these items (unlike USPS) even if they are warranty replacements. Unfortunately, getting items shipped as a "commercial sample" does not bypass duty/taxes.

Just mark the item as a Warranty Replacement and ship via USPS as TargetZ said and you should have a very happy recipient. Also the EMS number is incredibly useful as well (as Target mentioned too).

Too bad we have all these duty and taxes issues, Canadians would have no problem trying to revive your economy as its usually cheaper to buy stuff from y'all :)
