When doing an engine rebuild with with new pistons, Steel rings that are nitraded coated are the way to go . It can with stand the heat, pressure, and wear compared to ductile iron. The rings will out last the cylinder walls. There are two companies, both Japanese that make them for the Z that I have found. Nippon Piston Rings and Riken Corporation. I believe Nippon makes the OEM rings for Nissan. If you go with stock rings your okay. JUN pistons use the Riken rings. I know because I have JUN pistons. Seen the ring packages.
