Message : .RPS makes an extremely strong pressure plate for very high HP cars that will still hold the power with a single disc. These high clamp load pressure plates release perfect in all other brand cars......The Z hydrollic system sucks!
:WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH SPRING BREAKAGE?

THIS HAS TO DO WITH THE CLUTCH BEING BUILT FOR VERY HIGH HORSE POWER , BUT THE CLUTCH HYDROLLIC SYSTEM AND WEAK FIREWALL HAD TROUBLE RELEASING IT. RPS WAS TRING TO KEEP THE CLAMP LOAD HIGH TO HOLD BIG DOG POWER.....THEY COULD HAVE EASILY MADE THE PRESSURE WEAKER TO AVOID PROBLEMS , BUT THEY WERE TRING TO HELP THE Z CUMMUNITY BY MAKING A SINGLE DISC SET UP TOP TO HOLD THE POWER PEOPLE WERE MAKING....aLL THE OTHER BRAND SINGLE DISC CLUTCHES SLIP WITH BIGGER TURBOS.
:The Z32 is about an average of 10 years old and the seals on the hydrollic's are weak and are going out all the time now with stock clutches.
:With all new hydrollic's most Z's release the heavy RPS max fine when you get all the air out of the sytem, But a few are on the boarder and had a hard time releasing.
:ALL MY HYDRAULICS WERE NEW

THE POINT WAS MOST OF THE Z'S WITH NEW STOCK PARTS DO NOT EVEN NEED THE SLAVE THAT RELEASES MORE, BUT RPS WAS PROVIDING IT FREE TO TRY AND HELP PEOPLE HAVE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF POWER POSSIBLE.
RPS IS NOT AFRAID OF TRYING TO MAKE BETTER PRODUCTS AT THE RISK OF HAVEING SOME FAILURES ALONG THE WAY.....IT IS EASY TO COPY, IT IS HARD TO LEAD.

:If you test the RPS max pressure plate on a release testing machine they all release in 3/8's of a stroke just like the factory clutch. The problem is the Z's thin firewall flexes and weak hydrollic parts will not always move the clutch fork 3/8's of an inch to release a heavy pressure plate.
:I worked with RPS on this problem because the RPS MAX
:clutch was the only clutch I found that would hold high power with a single disc.
:We came up with a slave with a smaller bore size that would
:release the clutch more with the same stroke. It worked well.
:THEY WORKED SO WELL RPS HAD TO REPLACE A ZILLION OF THEM FOR FREE-THEY WERE CHEAP AND DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN FURNISHED WITH THAT CLUTCH IN THE FIRST PLACE. AND A CHEESY PIECE OF THREADED ROD FOR AN ACTUATOR? I KNOW YOU CAN’T SIT WELL WITH THAT.

THEY WERE NOT CHEAP , IT WAS ALL THAT WAS AVAILABLE AND THEY HAD NO IDEA THEY WOULD NOT HOLD UP. THE TREADED ROD IS FROM THE DESIGN THEY WERE FROM.....ALL IT DOES IS PUSH ON THE CLUTCH FORK.....I DID NOT SEE A PROBLEM WITH THOSE. IT DOES THE SAME JOB IF IT HAS THREADS OR IS SOLID.

: THESE SLAVES are NOT MADE BY RPS. RPS bought these slaves and gave them free to any one having a release problem with the Heavy MAX clutch, and also gave them free to everyone buying a max without changing the price of their clutch.
:YEAH, BECAUSE THE CLUTCH SIMPLY WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT IT,IT’S LIKE BUYING A CAR WITH NO WHEELS, KINDA NECESSARY.

AGAIN , WITH NEW HYDROLLIC'S THEY USSUALLY WORK FINE WITH STOCK PARTS....THE SLAVE WITH MORE RELEASE WAS ADDED TO TRY AND PUT OUT THE BEST PRODUCT THEY COULD.

:This started out great! Then RPS ran everyone that made these slaves out of stock....They started out in steel.
:MINE WAS NOT STEEL
:So RPS found another manufacturer that had alot in stock , but they were made out of aluminum.....Well the aluminum was not strong enough and they had a 100% failure rate :(...Keep in mind, this was someone elses product rps was buying and giving away!
:WITH THEIR PRODUCT, AS PART OF THEIR PRODUCT-SEE WHERE THE COMPLAINTS MIGHT COME IN HERE?

DO YOU THINK THEY PUT OUT A PRODUCT THAT DID NOT WORK ON PURPOSE??? THEY WERE DOING THE BEST THEY COULD WITH WHAT WAS AVAILABLE AND BECAUSE SOMEONE ELSES PRODUCT THEY WERE GIVING AWAY FAILED THEY HAD TO GIVE ALL THOSE PEOPLE 2 SLAVES.
THEY LEARNED AND ONLY SEND OUT NOW WHAT IS KNOWN TO WORK.

:When they started failing it was pretty frustrating because we already had a few hundred out there :(
:RPS steped up to the plate again and bought new steel slaves and gave those away and shipped them free and in quite a number of cases shipped them next day air free.
:I GOT NEXT MONTH AIR FREE

YOU ABVIOUSLY FELL IN THE TIME FRAME WHEN THE STEEL ONES WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND THEY HAD LEARNED ABOUT ALUMINIM ONES.....THEY WERE DOING ALL THEY COULD.....THIS WAS A HUGE PROBLEM AT THAT TIME...RPS STOP SELLING MAX CLUTCHES AT THAT TIME TO MAKE SURE THEY COULD FILL THE ORDERS FOR PEOPLE THAT NEEDED SLAVES THAT ALREADY HAD THE CLUTCHES.
ROB SMITH OF RPS DOES EVERYTHING HE POSSIBLY CAN FOR HIS CUSTOMERS.....SOMETIMES LIFE IS NOT PERFECT THOUGH.

:RPS lost tons on money on this and got a bad rap for it .
:WELL DESERVED

RPS BOUGHT A BAD PRODUCT TO GO WITH THIERS AND IT WENT WRONG AND THEY HAD TO EAT IT AND BUY MORE AND SENT THEM OUT AS WELL.....HOW DOES RPS DESERVE THAT??????
THE CO THAT MADE THE PRODUCTS RPS GAVE AWAY NEVER GAVE RPS ANY CREDIT OR COMPENSATION FOR THE BAD PARTS EITHER.

:This all has to do with the Z having a weak hydrolic system
:and a thin firewall.
:THIS ALL HAS TO DO WITH A CLUTCH DISC FAILING AND FAULTY UNDER-ENGINEERED SLAVE CYLINDERS, NOT FIREWALLS.

THE DISC'S WERE THE SAME NISSAN SELLS, RPS FELT IF NISSAN SELLS THEM THEY SHOULD HOLD UP :(
AS SOON AS ONE FAILED RPS STOPPED USEING THEM.
NOT BECAUSE THEY WERE DEFECTIVE, BUT BECAUSE RPS WANTED TO USE A PRODUCT THAT IS THE BEST AND IS THE LEAST LIKELY TO FAIL. THE CLUTCH DISC MANUFACTURER SAYS A 5% FAILURE RATE IS NORMAL AND THEY WILL NOT GIVE ANY CREDIT.
RPS WANTS TO HAVE 0% FAILURE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
AGAIN I HAVE BEEN IN THE Z REPAIR BUSSINESS SINCE 1982 AND I HAVE SEEN FAILURES FROM EVERY MANUFACTURER OUT THERE....RPS HAS THE LEAST FAILURES I HAVE EVR SEEN IN HIGH PERFORMANCE APPLICATIONS, THAT IS WHY IT IS THE ONLY CLUTCH I SELL.

:Because of the number of slaves needed every manufacturer ran out of stock of the steel slaves again and RPS could not get slaves out to people that had bad ones for a while. RPS bought any they could, even from little places that charged 4 times the price to try to provide these slaves free to anyone that needed them.
:RPS also does not make street Disc's....The Pressure plate is the performance part of a street clutch set up, as with all Co's selling performance clutches. It is the heavier clamp load of the pressure plate that keeps the clutch from slipping under more power.
:RPS was useing an OEM replacement Disc that Nissan sells and as soon as we heard of the first one breaking a spring holder (ASH) I spoke with RPS and they found a MUCH stronger street disc to use with the street set ups.
:THEN WHY WAS I NOT NOTIFIED OF THE OBVIOUS DEFECTAND GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO UPGRADE, I WOULD HAVE GLADLY PAID FOR IT.

THE DISC'S ARE NOT DEFECTIVE AND IF YOU BUY A CLUTCH DISC KIT FROM NISSAN YOU WILL STILL GET THE SAME DISC YOU HAD FAIL IF YOU BOUGHT IT TODAY.
THE PERCENTAGE OF FAILURES IS VERY SMALL, BUT ANY FAILURE WAS TOO HIGH FOR RPS AND THEY STOPPED USEING THEM.
WHEN EVER ANY OF MY CUSTOMERS HAS CALLED ME OR RPS STATING THEY HAD A FAILURE , RPS HAS SHIPPED EVERY ONE WITH PROBLEMS A BRAND NEW STRONGER STYLE DISC.

:RPS Does make there own 6 puck racing disc's and all there pressure plates.
:WOULD’NT WASTE MY MONEY ON IT

OBVIOUSLY YOU FEEL VIOLATED AND NOTHING IS GOING TO CHANGE YOUR MIND.
RPS HAS MADE MISTAKES....THATS WHAT IT TAKES TO BE THE BEST THOUGH IS TO TRY NEW THINGS ....... UNFORTUNATEY THINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS PERFECT ALONG THE WAY....BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN RPS GOES OUT OF THERE WAY TO RESOLVE ANY PROBLEMS THAT DO COME ALONG.

:RPS has given free replacement Disc's to the handfull of people that have had the defective OEM street disc's.
:I SURE WAS’NT ONE OF THAT HANDFULL

DEMANDING SOMETHING AT A SHOW WHERE NOT MUCH CAN BE DONE AND CALLING YOUR SALESPERSON OR THE OFFICE OF RPS ON A WORKDAY ARE 2 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS.

:I have seen tons of failures over the years with every brand clutch out thier and I have never seem any other clutch Co Stand behind what they sell so well.
:I am sure that RPS would have gladly given you a new disc at the show if they would have had one there.
:NO, THE GUY JUST SHRUGGED HIS SHOULDERS AND WALKED AWAY, TOTALLY INDIFFERENT

YOU DEFFINETLY DID NOT TALK TO ROB SMITH....
I DO NOT KNOW WHO ROB HAD WORKING FOR HIM AT THE SHOW, BUT JUDGING RPS OR ROB SMITH BY A PERSON WORKING A SHOW FOR HIM IS NOT VERY FAIR.

:I am truely sorry for your misfortune 500 miles away from home....But I do not know what could have been done for you at the show over the weekend.
:I also heard about the content of your email and I do not blame RPS for not responding.
:WHY NOT?

CURSING AT RPS AND TELLING THEM YOU BOUGHT A NEW 350z AND THAT YOU WOULD NOT EVER BUY A RPS PRODUCT AGIAN IS NOT THE BEST WAY TO GET SOMEONE TO LISTEN TO YOU.

:I hope that sheads a little light on the other side.
