Message To begin, the rotary polisher that you are using is not for the novice. The potential to destroy your paint with one of those is so incredible. It will burn through your clearcoat in a second. Hell I have been detailing for years and I am afraid to use the thing.

This is multiplied by the fact that you are using a wool pad which is one of the most aggressive pads out there.

I think forum members would be much better off with a orbital buffer like the porter cable (PC) which is pretty much idiot proof. It generates no heat and the buffer travels in a figure 8 pattern.

I also have concerns with the products that you are using. To begin, I think forum members would be able to achieve just as good as results with using proper products. For swirl removal, there are different levels of abrasiveness that can be used depending on the severity of the swirls. I think this would be much better than having the car wetsanded. I would work with the products and move up the scale (abrasiveness) until the swirls were removed.

Start with the least and work up:

1) Paint Cleaner- S100 SEPC, Pinnacle PPCL etc
2) Megs #9 Swirl Remover or Klasse AIO
3) 3M Swirl Mark Remover (SMR)
4) 3M Finesse It II
5) 3M Finesse It III

etc

The products that you are using are from Megs Consumer Line. They are good but I don't really think they were meant for use with a rotary or orbital. They tend to be used by hand. I would have used the Megs products in the tan bottle like Megs #9, Fine Cut, Heavy Cut, etc.

Also did you use a clay before you started buffing?? The purpose of the clay is to remove the contaminents in the clearcoat before polishing.

I also noticed that you started applying the wax with the rag. The potential to reintroduce swirls by using that is unreal. You should have used a simple foam app.

These are just some of my observations. I am not trying to bash you and am impressed with your results. However, I think that forum members should be made aware of some of the other ways to do things.
