Message I would say thru the bulb hole would be alot easier of a job. But if your planning on doing a "paint or chroming" of the headlights might as well do it all at once.
I went to clean the inside of my glass when I had them apart and honestly didnt notice a difference at all. Maybe my housings are just pretty airtight when the bulb housings are in. I made damn sure they remained that way when I put em back together also. I had a bad vision of driving in the rain or washing the car and seeing a heavy condensation build up on the inside. Didnt happen tho.

In other words if you plan on takin it all apart do it all at once.

Little info on removal.
Remove nose panal,
remove airbox, 2 bolts can be reached now on each light from this area.
3rd bolt is reached by removing foglamp, 4th bolt is reached by removing the inside of the wheel well.

I heard someone mention that if you have a TT you actually have to remove the whole front facia to get to a couple of the bolts.

Once out taking the headlights apart SUCKS!
Heating, prying ,heating prying and Praying you dont break the glass.

very tedious job. If you tackle it good luck.

I just looked and found that link I was talking about.

Never criticize your fellow man until you have walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you criticize him your a mile away and you have his shoes.
