is usually heard as the rpm is fluctuating. Just barley raising the rpm off idle than letting it go back to idle will make it knock. How ever a bad lifter can also react in the same way But, as the bearing gets worse you will start to hear it even when the rpm is kept at a constant value, say 2000 or 3000.
