Here is the qualifications: Description The Systems Engineer is responsible for configuring and maintaining servers and other operational systems within the production environment. This is accomplished through the proactive monitoring of the server hardware and operating systems and installation of patches, service packs and other upgrades to ensure high level system availability. Serves as a mentor to less experienced members of the technical staff. Operates with minimal supervision. Qualifications - Bachelor's degree preferred. - MCSE W2K or NT4 required. - 5-8 years experience required in engineering and or support of Windows 2000 & NT 4 server based operating systems in a large enterprise, with support responsibilities for 300-400 servers. - 2-3 years experience in NAS / SAN storage management & administration required. - 2-3 years experience in the deployment and administration of centralized backup technology. - Expert skills required in supporting Windows 2000 and NT 4 server based operating systems. - Must be knowledgeable in Active Directory and group policy administration. - Must be proficient in managing and troubleshooting WINS, DNS & DHCP. - Must be technically competent in engineering and supporting Compaq server hardware. - Knowledge in one or more of the following products is desirable: SAN technology (Xiotech & EMC preferred) Enterprise class backup technology (Veritas Net Backup or CommVault) NSI DoubleTake VMware GSX / ESX server Brocade switches Compaq Insight Manager Whats Up Gold Exchange 5.5 / Exchange 2000 SQL 7.0 / SQL 2000 BindView Novel 4.11 Note: This preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and level of work performed by employees within this classification.
