ok, here's the story ..... Mitsu launched the EVO VIII in the States and makes all sorts of claims about it being a rally bred race car for the street with race suspension, Brembo brakes, Advan tires, wind tunnel tested functional wing, etc.... blah, blah, blah, they even make you watch a racing/performance driving video before you can test drive or buy the car so, a guy here at work talks with the local Mitsi dealer, explains that he wants to run the 1 Lap and makes arrangements to get an EVO for the 1 lap of america race .... he get's the car early with an agreement to put the dealers name on the car and gets some sponsorship help from said dealership ($$$) .... after completing all needed break in miles and maintenance he competes and does 'ok' 7th in class and 28th overall (he's not that aggressive of a driver... he's never even got to the rev limiter). 1 week after the event ends the car starts making some minor sounding engine noise. He said it sounded like a lifter ticking ( I never heard the noise) and he took it to the dealer .... they changed the oil and said it wasn't a problem and that high hp turbo cars commonly have this issue so, he went on his way. Another week passed and the noise grew alot worse and he returned to the dealer .... to find out what was going on this brings us to today: dealer called and said he lost a rod bearing/crank shaft and needed a new short block .... and that the regional service guy would be calling him shortly. The regional guy calls and tells him that since he used the car in 1 Lap of America, which is a competition, that this would not be covered under any type of warranty and that he is 100% responsible for the needed repairs. what a bunch of crap ....
