Message Back in 1995 when I started having severe problems with my Chevy Berretta, I was using my girlfriends (at the time) car to get around. The day would start off with me dropping her off at work and I would drive her car to work. During lunch, I'd drive around the area (Studio City, CA) to look at cars. And since my financial insitute only approved me for less than $20k, I didn't have much of a choice to get a new car (either a civic or sentra), especially with a low down payment.

With the months passing by driving her car, I was slowly working my way up the corporate ladder at the entertainment company I was at. And for a few months, I noticed these old animation cells in the mailroom that had been sitting there for months. 99% of them were from the animated show X-MEN (not Evolutions, the 90's one). So when the day came for the mailroom to throw them in the dumpster out back, I just followed them out there and loaded them into my car. And to cover my back, I consulted with the company lawyer to make sure it was legal for me to take them.

So getting back to the Z, I noticed a used car dealer that exlusively sold 300zx's one day while at lunch, so I stopped by. I test drove the first one in the front of the lot, which was a black tt automatic. Needless to say, I fell in love as soon as I opened up the throttle. Right then and there I knew I had to get this car. But with time elapsing a few months later, my approved loan amount had fallen below the price of the Z. So after some thought, I decided to take those X-MEN animation cells to an animation shop. Long story short, I wound up getting $4k for most of them, and kept a few that are still in my collection to this day.

So I bought the Z home (living together at the time), and my girlfriend (at the time) immediately asked me "where's my mother going to sit in that", and said that I was selfish for buying a car with only two seats. Right then I knew she wasn't the one for me, so I dropped a little "Tom Lykas 101" (male driven radio show program in L.A.) on her and dumped her within a month.

The rest is history.
