Message I just thought I would share a little project I am finally wrapping up. The house I bought was built in the 1940's, and the garage showed. I had some severe reservations about parking the Z inside with how far the walls were leaning, I was sure a heavy 3 foot snowfall was going to take it out (not uncommon here).

After calling 10-15 contractors to come and take a look at it, only 2 gave me estimates, in the range of $2-$3K. Those of you who may be general contractors that are reading this, I apologize - things may be different where you live. But 99.99% of them where I live are sleazeball, scumbag, ignorant, toothless ripoff artists. Half of those who I called actually showed up, and those who didn't give quotes wanted to tear it down and build a new one (for $10K-$15K), seriously suggested I hit it with *my car* and get the insurance, while a few even suggested they straighten it by roping it to their pick 'em up trucks and hitting the gas (no joke). Needless to say, I tackled it myself.

Here is what the inside used to look like (notice the nice angle of the studs):

After purchase of a 2 ton come-along, some chip board, primer, paint, screws, new pressure treated lumber for the rotted sill plate, yada yada (about $300):

I took the window out, replaced the door:

Lots of storage for the important stuff now.

Here's the difference in the outside:

And notice how the curve is gone now:

I don't have any construction experience, but tools, your brain, and even a book can get you through things like this. If anyone has a similar situation like I was in, and needs some hints on how to pull this off, drop me an e-mail.
