| I posted this a few days ago to the same question: Ash's chip actually backs off timing when a problem condition is detected, whereas the JWT chip will keep using the same timing maps. When using a boost controller, you will not drop into safety boost with either chip. But Ash's will back off timing and you are able to feel the loss in power, whereas the JWT chip will not and you will keep on driving obliviously. Next, Ash's ecu also backs off the timing in 5th gear when the engine is under a lot of load, again protecting the engine. The JWT ecu does not. I'm not trying to be 'Ash's chip is best, get it' person that just replies it's better all the time with no explanation. From what I've seen and heard about the ECUs, Ash's does seem better and safer. I also do understand people's skepticism towards a new and unproven product. Ash's ecu is becoming more widely used and we'll see how things turn out. Kez
"Pulled the blower fan down from behind the glovebox and there was a mouse nest inside the cage fan - mom and 6 babies. Mom was dead and the reason for the smell - petrifying fast - but the babies were hanging on. At least until I fed them to the cats." [ZXtaZTT - June 19, 2002] |
