Message Magnesuim Chloride, use it instead of salt now, and for a long while they have been using a sand/gravel/salt mixture, which actually had a very low amount of salt in it.

It uncommon to find a car that has rust from roadsalt from living here in CO, even 10-15yo cars that are a DD in the mountains.

It is so dry here the rest of the time that even very old cars(50+yo) wont have rust from humidity. You can find remarkably well preserved cars out on the western slope.H
