Message Why would import tuners swear by a dyno that gives 10-12% lower numbers than the almost-household-name Dynojet?

Horsepower ratings are almost like watts in car stereos- you can get the numbers a lot of different ways, and manufacturers tend to pick the test method that gives them the highest numbers, no?

I don't doubt what you were told, just wondering what the different schools of thought behind the different kinds of dyno numbers are.

:u take ur rims off and they hook it to the rotors.
:the guy was trying to tell me it was much more accurate b/c "dynojets" use the big heavy drums and once ur spinning them they create momentum/enertia (dont care about spelling) and that helps get innacurate #'s.
:Anyway he also told me his #'s would be roughly 10-12% lower than a dyno jets but also said many of the biggest names in the import scene use dynopaks to dyno their cars (gave examples like apex and veilside or something).
