Message Minus a rebuilt *long-block*, what is a guestimated price I might be looking at to aquire the additionl parts required for an NA to TT swap? I have an NA donor engine to use for the parts that are universal between the two (valve covers, plenum, balance tube, water pipes, fuel lines, various sensors etc.).

I'm just looking for an average price on some "good", low-mileage parts. I think some of the biggies are included below..

-stock turbos (~price + rebuild?)
-stock intercoolers
-injectors/fuel rail
-manifolds/precats/cats
-intercooler piping/tubes
-TT radiator/AC condenser
-TB's (I believe it mentioned passenger side has an extra water line)
-TT transmission (used)

And a few questions:

1.) Is it possible to get away with NOT hacking up the front core support when mounting a TT radiator, OR is there an equivalent radiator that can mount in the NA location, but still provide the TT functions? (Or is one of the reasons for trimming the core support because there isn't enough clearance for intercooler piping in the NA?)

2.) Also, I am unclear on the description about driveshaft/transmission/differential compatibility. I would keep my NA differential, and would most likely get an AUTO TT transmission (unless a mannual swap is cheaper, but I doubt it).. so with the NA diff. and the Auto TT trans, am I going to need the NA driveshaft, or a TT driveshaft...?

3.) Lastly, am I correct in thinking I can use my aftermarket 2+0 "NA" exhaust with a TT engine, but that my NA cats WON'T bolt up?

I hope I didn't screw any of this up too badly (LOL?) This is teh first time I have actually looked at the FAQ on this. I'm not worried about pricing the small parts, but instead trying to get a rough estimate on price for the neccessities. I will be doing the work with the help of a friend/mechanic.. am I nuts in thinking this can be done for less than $3000 minus the cost of the longblock? Less?
Flame me at will...

~Mike
