Greg Dupree split downpipes are all that and a bucket of extra spicy original recipe chicken with an extra peice because the dude behind the counter couldn't count!!!

Also, test pipes rock the house too.

I got my down pipes back in november and didn't get a chance to put them in before the east cost got hammered with snow. So, finally had a chance to get them in a couple weekends ago (after replacing my high pressure PS hose). Went down to YugoBernie's Garage and Pit Stop to do the install. Did the install over the course of 2 days, and actually had a lot of fun learning as it was my first time dropping the tranny.

Somthing interesting that I did find though was that I still have a stock clutch. When i bought the car, it already had an intake and JWT chip upgrade running 15 psi. I have had it for 16K miles and the clutch has held strong the whole time (Mind you I have a rather heavy foot). I don't launch the car hard, no 5K dumps or anything so i guess that has helped with it's longevity. Anyway, silly me (after reading on hear how many stock clutches give up at stg III) figured I already had an aftermarket clutch and didn't get a new one. Dammit. So my tranny will come down again at some point later this year. Woohoo!

Overall, the install went VERY smooth. I took my time and did not rush anything. One thing I will say is, big hands and this car do not mix...duh. Also, when you tackle this install, a stubby 13mm wrench and ratcheting wrenches make things MUCH easier. And how people do this without dropping the tranny is beyond my scope of vision. The driver's side precat was a whore with the tranny out! Anyway, the down pipes leave so much more space in there and look great. As for power gains....yeah, they rock. Spool up is much quicker and the car pulls harder. I love them.

A couple pics...

Stock clutch :/

I also got some Stillen test pipes this past weekend (thanks sebring1970). I put them on tuesday and the results were great. It's like I have a new car now. It pulls harder and spools faster. I love it.

Now I just need to get a hold of some decent gaskets to take care of the small leak between the test pipe and X-pipe. Other than that, wonderful.

Oh, and I wouldn't want to forget how much better the B&B sounds with no cats to strangle it's vocal chords :) Beautiful music

Big thanks to Yugobernie for the use of the facilities and the help with dropping and raising the tranny, and also with a stubborn turbo stud...and the fluid changes. Also thanks to Fuzznutz for his help and getting that pesky heat shield screw off! I hated that thing.

Later,
Spencer
