I am not a video compression specialist, but I think .wmv files are microsofts version of MPEG-4. MPEG-4 files are smaller than MPEG-2 files, because they have better compression. MPEG-4 has lots of tricky ways to cut file size down without much noticable quality loss. WMV is good for small files, OK for quality, whereas MPEG is good for quality and portability. MPEG will be more standard for other OS's (Unix, Linux etc.), unless there is wmv codec available for Unix systems that I don't know about. Video sucks on Linux anyways! Mike
