Lighter, better handling. You can always make up the power deficit with mods. The STI is a 2.5l, which isn't legal for the rally class that it would compete it if you wanted to do SCCA prorally. Apparently the block is also bored from the same 2.0l block as the regular WRX, so I'd have a few concerns about the longterm modability of it given Subaru's history of merely "adequate" headroom in terms of engine strength. Then again, the 2.5l might work out great and you would be happy to have that extra displacement. I'm sure the EVO has it's downsides, maybe I'm just overly critical of Subaru's approach with the 2.5l. I really don't think you can go wrong with either car. I guess we'll see how things pan out, I really don't have any intention of buying either so I will just happily watch from the sidelines. :)
