Message I have read back in the day that auto manufactureres used copper cores for radiators... makes sense to me since copper has about twice the thermal conductivity than it's follower Mr. Aluminum. Obviously over the years manufacturers have moved away from copper (except for some specific boat applications) into using all aluminum endtanks/cores/etc. I assume the reasons for this change were 3-fold.
1) Copper is heavy (2.5X heavier than Al)
2) Copper is more expensive (always a key driver)
3) Copper is prone to moisture attack without a coating

I have worked out a deal with some of the guys in the shop where I work and a local fabrication shop to make a copper-cored AIR:AIR (I toyed with Air:liquid for a bit, but decided against it since I'll do more opentracking than anything else) intercooler. They will make brass endtanks, a copper core, then coat it with chrome, bronze, silver. This will combat the moisture attack that we all know exists with copper (that green crap on old-school plumbing, for example, is copper oxide). The design I have mocked up is similar to your 2-piece FMIC, but the right side of the left IC doesn't quite meet up with the left side of the right IC. In theory the cooling should be better with the copper core, but before I give the go (and the funds to make this happen), do you have any comments on what I have discussed here? Would you be able to email me the drawings of your FMIC setup so I can compare/comfirm what I have for hose angles, lengths, radii, and sizing, etc.??

Thanks in advance..

SS
