did.. make the brackets out of wood =) On the front I just removed the Bose Enclosure as a whole, then used the bose enclousure to trace onto a piece of 1/4" piece of plywood. Cut it out and sealed it with Tung Oil to ensure no water will get in. Then bolted it into the stock holes and screwed my 5 1/4" speaker into (would work for 6 1/2" too). On the rear I gutted the the Bose Enclousure pulling out all wires and the cotton shit Bose had in there. In my 1990 it appears a 6 3/4" would be a perfect fit, but not knowing I bought some 6 1/2" speakers that didn't quite fit so I cut a wood piece that basically looked like an O to set on top of the BOSE enclousure, then sealed with Tung Oil and used Liquid rubber to seal it to the Bose Enclousure, then I just screwed my 6 1/2" onto the wood. Its a tight squeeze when I put it back together, but it works. Maybe this will help and save you a few bucks. The wood cost me $6.50 for a 4x2 sheet which was PLENTY! Have fun.
