18" = weaker / more prone to damage, more expensive, harder to fit in many cases, more expensive tires, harsher ride, lengthened torque arm from hub (that's bad), etc etc. If done right, they can definitely look nice, but I don't think that they are worth the trouble. I would go with some lowering springs like Eibach an light 17's for the looks/performance combo. Just my opinion though - it's what I'm doing now.
