Message I just installed the "Top Speed" short throw shifter that I purchased from Courtesy. Overall, I like it, but it takes a little getting used to. It has a very notchy, ratchety, positive feel when shifting. The throw is dramatically shorter. It is not as smooth as the stock shifter, but I think this is the "nature of the beast." A few install warnings: In order to get the ball shaped bottom of the shifter through the stock sheet metal mounting base, the stamped oval shaped hole in the base needs to be enlarged with a grinder. I chose to do this rather than grind the ball itself. After you connect the ball with bushing in place to the linkage apparatus and tighten down the two bolts that fasten the shifter to the mounting base. The two bolts that come with the kit are intended to replace the stock hardware, yet are inconvenient. The bolts are too long which creates an interference problem with the rubber dampening mount that goes on top of the assembly. I used my dremel to shorten the bolt, but in retrospect it would be easier to use shofter hardware. Additionally, the nuts they give you are for a 13mm wrench instead of a 12mm, which makes it impossible to use a ratchet as it won't sit on the nut b/c of interference with the shifter base, ie the bolt is too close to the shifter base. This makes the job super tedious as everything must be done with an open end wrech...slowly.
