there's so many ways to do it.....scan eeprom for bytes, set status byte, hell, if you really want to get 'UGLY', you can set the scan, test the seed bytes, and if it's not yours wipe the EEP to nada, so the person would have to re-flash their EEPROM. i have no work in car specific EEP's, but i've been working with this kind of stuff for a while now, and it's good fun
