Message They will pay for whatever the estimate that their adjuster figured for the keyed section. I would work out a deal with the painter. They are usually pretty cool, explain the situation with him, tell him you have such and such budget, this is what insurance gave me, will you paint the whole thing for this much. You dish out the remainder. It should be a fairly easy job, the jams which are the bitch, should not have to be done, unless sun fade is not the reason for the cars paint deteriation. Without doing jams, it should save alot of money when redoing a total paint job. Tell the painter this, see what he says, if he doesn't want to work with you, take the Z elsewhere. As the owner, by law you can take the car to whomever you choose to have the work done. Don't let the insurance back you into certain shops, they do this because the work there is trusted, but also they get prorated discounts at some of the locations they supply alot of business to. Remember at the end of the day, its all about the dollar! Insurance companies are for profit, they aren't going to give money away, but you can make a deal that works out for you and the bodyshop.

Someday I will finish my Z, I think?
