Message Most users will not go out and do and buy all that is necessary because they lack the knowledge on how to do this. And those who do probably are a shop or related to a shop that actually would have the knowledge and understand to do it properly.

The only marketplace it could have hurt you in Ash is if people start cranking out these ECUs and have a dyno jet and willing to spend some time on it to make some new ECUS and those few who would have gotten your Zemulator and tuned it anyways. The majority of people who purchase the Zemulator wouldn't vary to much base map.

Thus the end result is not the technology that drives what people buy but tuning embedded in this technology.

This is also the perfect example of how competition drives the market place for a better product. You can easily over come most of the gains of this knowledge by adding more features exclusive to your product.
