Well about 2 years ago I blew the motor on my 91 TT. had a boost con. installed and well whoever installed it ran a cracked line to the waste gate. That was well over 2 years ago. The reason I am going to tell you this is so I hope it will give you inspiration to go on. Well I had a guy drop the motor. At this time I had very low funding. This guy had apperently been ripping people off and decided to move and not tell me. He left the motor at the machine shop and parked my car with all the bran new parts inside. The tranny was sitting in my passenger side leather seat. The city towed it and I couldn't find the car. I reported it stolen. So monthes go buy and well it finally ends up in the junk yard impound lot. It costed me over grand just to get her out. Then I got a flat bed and towed her home. She has lots of dings and tons of scrapes now at this point but God was on my side. For the months that she was there, there was this little shed with about 4 cars in it and yep my car was underneath it and there was a bad hail storm when she had been there so no hail damamge. anyway she sits in the driveway for months while I get a rebuilt motor and the funding to get the rest of the parts. BTW the new turbos and all the parts were still in the car but the motor itself was gone. I have no idea where it went. Prolly in one of you alls cars now. lol. well atleast I would rather it be in a z then sittin rotting away not being used. Anyway I found someone who would put it all back together since some of the bolts were in a bucket. I get it towed over there and well about a few months down the road the guy decides he can't and won't do it. Didn't even lift a finger. So I said F** it I will do it myself. Thanks to Alchemist selling my new manual for dirt cheap and a very quick arrival I now know more then I thought I would ever know about the 91 300zx and still I don't know sh*t about them. So for the next couple of weeks I prepared my self to build it. At this point I had already bought the electromotive Tec2 and didn't know where to begin with ripping stuff out and what to leave. So after months go buy I start to see what resembles a vg30dett. Watching the motor grow with parts kept me very excited. I started working on the car with the thought I know I don't have all the parts and what not and I will get them as I need them so at points I would have to stop working till the parts I ordered arrived. That took months in total time for waiting and anticipating. Well I started to drop the motor in and found myself the most pissed off A**hole I have ever seen myself in years. When I went under the car the first time in a very long time I found that there was a huge freeking hole in my undercarriage. When the guy initally dropped the motor he left the last half of the driveshaft still hooked up to the diff. When the city towed it it did tons of damage. So once again I had to have it towed and I took it to my friend and he said that inssurance would claim the car totaled. Well I didn't have insurance on a car that had a blown motor. I dropped it. Big mistake.Well he welded it it and did a damn fine job. Then had it towed back. Luckily I have a good friend who's brother has a wrecker company or else I would be paying out the wazoo. so I get the motor in and got that same friend build a wiring harness which he charges around $1000 bucks but man it is realy nice. So everything is in order. Everyone told me don't expect it to fire right up so I didn't. I actually was a lil scared to turn the key because I took off work for months to work on this thing. I prolly put in about 12 to 16 hours a day when I wasn't waiting for parts. I also waited a day or so. Well I went out and tuned the Tec2 to the best of my knowledge. As I turned the key I jumped litarly out of my chair because the motor started right up and wasn't expecting it to. Well I tried to drive it and well it wasn't tuned good enough to drive. I started to plave around with it and got it driveable and when I went for the first real test drive man it is like the feeling of too good to be true. The first motor I have ever built came to life and what kills me is that I need to get insurance and registration on it. I could careless at this point about inspection. I have never had a child but man this must feel something like it. Lots of pain and agony litterally from smashing my finger with the hamer and cutting myself over and over again on my hands. Then cleaning parts with carb cleaner feels real good but I have a feeling thats why I have not gotten anyinfections. Anyone else?? But that is my sob story turned into happiness. The moment that motor started I about shit my pants. I couldn't sleep for days. Believe me this is only the beggining for me. But thats the way I want it to be. I am sure for anyone who spends years trying to get their car running and people constantly screwing them until they decide to do it themselves, learns patience and virtue. And the feeling of accomplishment is realy great. But thats all nice and dandy but the real factor here is owning one badass machine so when you drive her down the street and people come up to you and ask you do you want to sell her and you respond want to sell your soul because thats what it took to keep going on. As for me it was well worth it and am about to go through it again but take a differen't road. Not going stock with internals. Already got the project motor on the stand and I only got 30 something miles on the rebuilt one. But I Start my old job in april but as a new postion. Hehe thought they were going to loose me so they promoted me. I don't suggest you do that. So if this wasn't helping uhh how much you want for what ya got????????????????????????
