Uhm, it is an emulator, yes, but there is also a DAQ device that allows for real-time trace and sensor data display. When I say they just dont cut it, what I meant by that was a 'one size fits all' doesn't cut it. The ZEM is simply stated, an EPROM emulator. But it allows you to tune the parameters specifically for your car. The fact that the hardware is $179, as you state, there is also a relatively inexpensive DAQ device also used with it. But you aren't paying JWT $695 for a EPROM chip either. =)
