If this is just one event of many that you have no input, either resign to being "whipped" the rest of your life or make a change. That change could be to assert yourself or get out while you can. Seems to me you are equally at fault by not taking a stand. No relationship will be pleasant if you are just going to "rollover" for anything they want. Marriage is a partnership.
