to what you'll really spend during the race. The guy that won it from last year is from Ft. Worth, Kyle Bass. His family (and him) are freaking loaded. They basically own most of downtown Ft. Worth. Here are some quick facts I heard from his mechanic: He drove a TT Ruf He had attorneys in helicopters following the race route so he could bond out on the spot if he got caught and ticketed He spent in excess of 100k (yes, really) just getting thru Louisiana Maintenance and prep to the car cost him aprox 15~20k He has in car vid out running the popo in excess of 200mph He said it was the most fun he's ever had and he's coming back this year with every intention of winning again, regardless of the price.
Add to that the $$$ that I'm sure he (and everyone else) blew at the parties every night, and its into the lubricous realm of $$$ real quick.
