The tick probably has nothing to do with how hard it was driven. In fact, the tick always goes away when I run the car hard, which makes sense since our cars have hydraulic lifters. The most oil pressure is created at high RPM and helps get more oil into the upper parts of the engine...And I wonder about the oil pump in there...I plan on replacing it when the weather warms up. But yes, its lifter tick. Our cars have hydraulic valve lifters. Over time if air enters the lifter it can cause the tick...It happens to alot of cars with hydraulic lifters or lash adjusters. Later Josh :you got a built motor. I tell you, your got lucky that is was built up, and that it hadn't been run into the ground(I base this on the assumption that it could have been built up then run hard and abused, maybe thats why you have tick? Also I dont remember hearing a tick at the dyno. Is it lifter tick?
