Those are not forgiving of any impurities in your oil. The stock Z32 bearings have a softer outside coating that will allow a small bit of metal to become imbedded in the bearing if some is encountered. This will save your crank journal. The Z31 bearing does not have this coating. If any metal gets caught between the journal and the bearing, it will chew up the bearing and the journal. The Z31 bearing is a LITTLE more resistant to detonation damage but not enough to justify using them on a street car. I have seen many used bearings and most of them have some material imbedded in them
