| Okay, well lemme start off by saying this is by no means a SeedyROM quality writeup nor am I taking the throne from him, Ryan could not make it out today (lotsa crazy partying last night from what I understand =)) and I'm gonna try my best at this. Okay, the morning started off with me rolling over to Seb's house and then the two of us heading down to Fontana, the drive was for the most part uneventful but it really surprises me that the city of Fontana happens to have some of the WORST potholes I've ever seen in the state of California, just on the way to the speedway there are about 3 giant ones that would bend an 18 inch wheel with ease. Okay, onto the action.....when we first got there it looked like this:
We were 3 cars, Mark Leider was parked way over by the staging lanes and there was no room so we rolled around and ended up in some elitist prick Corvette club reserved parking area, got kicked outta there and then parked in front of some inbred with a 70s Camaro who told us to move because he couldn't get his car out with us parked in front of him and finally found a nice open spot that was kinda far from the lanes but next to some cool RX-7 guys, one of which owned this pretty piece:
We got settled down and Mark Leider decided he didn't like his spot so me and SteamyZ went to help him pack his stuff up and head on over to where we were. This is Steve testing out the official Nissan 300ZX baby-seat suicide chair while I ride in the trunk (hatch open by the way):
Got settled down and soon degradated (Ryan) showed up and we had a nice lineup going:
From closest to farthest the cars go as follows: Ryan (degradated)'s '94TT, Mark Leider's '90TT, Seb's '90TT, ZHOUND (Zo)'s '94TT, and on the end is WXY (Mike)'s '94TT. All these cars are 5-speed by the way. Missing in action in this pic is Red ZX (Justin)'s NA. So after shooting the shit with fellow tt.net members the drag racing started and we headed to the staging lanes, here's Zo right before he got his pimp juice on and ran his first 11.2 run:
As I was walking up the staging lanes heading to the stands outta the corner of my eye I spotted a pretty clean Supra TT with a bodykit, this guy was out here at the the last event and seemed to be getting more used to his ride:
Hmm, wait a second......I know that dude, or at least know of his antics on this forum. Yes, the infamous Jack B. was there without his car making a fashion statement in beige head-to-toe:
The day was going by pretty nicely, and late in the afternoon Mark Leider slapped on the Mickey Thompson's to go cut a nice time with his Sport 500s. Mark seemed pretty focused on what he wanted to accomplish and we all knew he was going to get kicked off the track with a sub-12 second run, here he is at the front of the staging lanes about to head out into the burnout box:
And haul-ass he did, Mark cut the sickest 60-foot I've ever witnessed in a Z, the whole front-end lifted and the crowd went absolutely nuts when he took off. We all watched him head down to the top end and finish off with an 11.7 short shifting toward the end because the car started missing (f'ing plugs!) The final highlight of the day was seeing former two-time 300ZX owner and now current single-turbo Supra owner Al Rhee (NIZZAN on this forum) cut an absolutely sick 11.1 second run at 17 lbs. of boost with no nitrous. Al knows how to drive and this sucker was dialed, here he is lined up next to Seb:
Overall a great day to drag race and shoot the sh!t with fellow Z'ers, I had a great time and am exhausted. A big congratulations goes out to Zo for running and backing up his 11.2, consistency was KEY on those runs. later, amir
The reason this sig pic doesn't work is because Bernie says I suck at inet. =) "I know I should be nice to newbies or those with lesser abilities, but I'm a rotten bastard."I>-Marshall |
