| I started at 80 grit 3" discs on a mandrel on an air drill. Then I used one of these to smooth it more. 
From there I used a 320 grit sandpaper and wetsanded, and wetsanded, and wetsanded. Once those grooves were out, I used a 6" polishing wheel with the black rouge, and lots of it, to get through the scratches from the previous tool. The metal has a lot of silica in it and it is quite hard so you will most likely get the plenum as hot as it is after 3 bonneville runs in the process. Be careful not to burn yourself on hotspots. For the small pockets I used a dremel. These are the hardest to do and will consume the most of your time. You may need to wetsand these areas by hand. AT this point I graduated to the red rouge and made a few long passes on everything. Then finally to the white rouge. The finishing touch is the mothers polish, of which I used a new pad with. This will still leave microscratches much like swirl on your clearcoat. Hand polishing it is the only way to make it gleem. Be sure to do a number of coats on it too. You'll have to polish it once a month or so to keep it from oxidizing anywhere. If it oxidizes, just use the finish wheel to clean it up and buff it out. Dont be as lazy next time and polish it once a month. =) Dont be discouraged when it seems like the scratches from the previous tool wont come out. They will, it just takes progressively longer as you go finer in grade.
