:God it's been months since I took this apart to remove the Bose system and finally its done.
:Robo (Sebring1970) dropped by yesterday for a Woody Shifter (nice product) and test pipes install. We got that under way at 10am and by 3pm... we where wrapping up - I swear I thought it was noon - I have no idea why it took us that long.
:Any way for after that I was feeling ambitious and decided that I wanted to have my interior IN my car rather then in a pile on the work bench.
:Over the next 12 hours or some I managed to get my panels cut for the rear Carbing bar, break a speaker, fix a speaker, praise the power of the hot glue gun, bore Robo to sleep (really) and finally get this project done...
:So here goes:
:My gutted trunk (of the past 6 months - thanks Wui :-) note that the Carbing bar is in and that I've soruced a set of the 90 Bose 6.5" round enclosures. They are great for sound and are IMHO the best stock look solution for rear speakers and they fit under the stock bosy panels.
:
:Detail of 90 Bose 6.5" Enclosure w. aftermarket speaker mounted. I gutted the Bose amps out and ran the signal "straight through" but reused the stock wires + harnesses - so its totally unplug and restore if I needed that option down the road. I will say that I found the tweater in this model speaker to sit almost too tall so look for a lower profile speaker if you go this route.
:
:Rear trunk area w. Dynomat Extreme (dense black "tar" under the foil that you press on) Very effective at toning down road noise and killing rattles etc. The 95's have very poor sound proofing from the factory (Nissan cut that out of the production lines by then as a cost measure) and the large glass area dont' mix well. I also placed a few strips into the underside of the hatch.
:
:Here is the interior in w. the Carbing "tunnels" cut (Robo is dead asleep at this point), 2am and I'm talking at myself.
:
:Here is a close up - edge trimed in Greddy boost hose left over from WagZ's boost controller install. I cut a vertical slot for the bar and the parts under the bar taper a bit in, so its slightly tear drop shaped. I cut out the basic rectangle and then used the dremel grinding bit to slowly trim and adjust the opening to the spape of the bar.
:
:Here is the money shot after about 30 min. of vacuming and cleaning of the body panels from 6 months of garage grime.
:
:That's my big accomplishment for the weekend thanks for looking and listening.
:Words of thanks got to Kyle & the crew at StrictlyZ.com for the great Carbing product - sorry it took me this long to get this install done & the pictures posted! Wui (Philly) for the Bose system swap/parts deal, KaZ for the hookup on the Dynomat, Robo for letting me bore him to death, any one else who's had to endure 6 months of my interior being constally in the f*cking way in the garage, and finally and prehaps most importantly Ed.01 who paid the ultimate price and butchered one of his panels in trying to get a working design that I was able to make my first cuts from.
