Message :Didn't know you could 'measure' detonation.

Abosluetly. Knock sum, knock count, etc...Thats why you have a detonation sensor =)
Its just that Nissan monitoring equipment hasnt been very keen on doign such.

:Nope, wasn't measuring EGTs. BUT mind you, that wit
:bigger turbos, the turbos are spinning LESS fast to produce the SAME amount of boost as a stock turbo. Hence LESS heat created while running same boost and because of that, lower EGTs.

That means nothing. You coudl ahve the biggest turbos in the world and still have 850C+ EGTs.

:Nope. But I know that I wasn't running so lean that I could hear detonation. I know that it can't always be heard, but from I can tell, no damage has ever been done to my engine, and there was NO audible detonation whatsoever.

LISTENING for detonation is NOT a safe way of tuning a car. If you are HEARING detonation, then you have way way too much of it. This is an expensive engine. peopel with far less valuable cars spend far more money and efort making sure they detect knock before its audible...

:Lastly, you should have read what Coz said. You can run 18psi on stock setup (granted my turbos are larger, but I'm not exceeding 17psi at any time) without a problem, as long as your car is running right. My car fits that description.

Ya know. Im just not sure I buy it:
- 17psi on stock injectors seems far too much. Does anyone have duty cycle numbers for 17psi on stock turbos? A/Fs? EGTs?
- 17psi on a bigger turbo woudl just complicate the fuel problem. 17psi on Sport 500s would surely be too much. Thats far too much air to flow for 370cc injectors. Do the math, what is the cfm rating on stock turbos anyway?

It doesnt make sense. When I first got here I did alot of research on that subject. Jim Wolf told me 14psi was max, SEARCH told me it 14-15psi was max, and other people told me 15psi was max. When we dynoed I ran leaner that I woudl have liked on 14psi...

Id liek to see some numbers. what is the cfm rating on the stock turbos at 15psi?

Later
Josh
