Message The 1st thing you want to do is send a certified letter (with return receipt) to the owner of the shop, explaining that they screwed up the car, and they are responsible for fixing it. Tell them in the letter that they have seven days to make necessary repairs to your car (at no charge to you) or you will be forced to take legal action.

Your next step is to contact the state agency that regulates auto repair shops. In California, it's called the Bureau of Automotive Repair. Your state will have something similar. Find them and tell them what happened. They are the ones that can put heat on the shop by threatening to pull their license if they don't take care of you.

OSHA really can't do anything for you. They deal with Occupational Safety and Health issues. OSHA would investigate a shop if they were improperly storing hazardous chemicals, or using a faulty hoist that could fall on someone, but they wouldn't investigate a situation where the shop did bad work or failed to make good on their warranty.

Your final step is to contact a lawyer. Remember to document EVERYTHING you do. This includes dates and times of phone calls, and make notes of the conversation so you have a record of it.
