Message Besides, one of my goals with a "wheel upgrade" was to have wheels I could rotate to improve tire life, and I honestly don't push the limit when it comes to traction - so wider isn't necessary for me. I'm also not willing to go to 18's because of comfort/strength considerations and tire prices at that diameter.
Ideally, I would like 17x8.5, but there just aren't many affordable options that I like in that size. I'm not interested in dropping $2,000 into a set of aftermarket wheels when even a set of the special, light-weight cast-alloy wheels custom designed for the car can be had for $1,000. I'm willing to pay out a little bit for quality, but the whole concept of aftermarket wheels is to get a better wheel for the same price or less (that's obviously my opinion) as the OEM wheel. In my case, a $185 17x8 wheel seems to fit the description pretty well. I just want to make sure that it'll fit correctly (offset/backspacing) and doesn't weigh too much.
