Message The one reason why Supras are faster is beacause of engine bay space. There is so much more room on the Supra than there is on the Z. Another reason is because Supra owners have all the parts available to go fast. As for us Z owners, everything has to be custom made. I went through hell just to have the fabricator make me my intercooler plumbing for my TD06-20G turbos. Since Z's are hard to work on and time consuming, when Z's go down they go down for a long time and after we get our cars back, we just want to drive them and not go 1/4 mile racing right away because we don't want to lose our cars for more months if something goes wrong :) I will be 1/4 racing my car this season but don't expect big things to happen. I will probably get high mph but my ET will suck. I am on my third tranny and don't think my current one will be able to handle the new mods especially if I drive it hard at the track.

:One of the sorriest excuses I keep seeing on here when it comes to Z's and 1/4 mile racing is " It's not a mustang ". That to me doesn't even make sense. I mean really, when you've been around awhile and you know the car like some do. All the fundamentals and steps one could take to prepare the car for such events, than statements like the Mustang one really are an excuses. I swear one of the first things I do with ZBlacktt when I get the turbo's and all the other parts in is go out to Portland raceway and run 27PSI on 110 octane at a 7500prm launch on my slicks, just to prove a point.

:What's happening with that one mad creation Z out there in KY area with the full custom motor work, like tubbed rear end and skinniness on front? The other thing that makes me think is all the people doing the massive turbo upgrade on there Z's, why does it take like a year for the fast ones and some more then two years to get the car done? I'm buying all the parts and taking the car down to the shop I get my Dyno's done, where I've taken many pictures of full custom built cars etc. They are just awesome and have full machining, head shop all inside there shop.
:Basically what I really wonder is a car that runs a 13 second time stock has really gone nowhere in all it's years since introduction, with a few guys that really set the stage for the car back in the mid 90's. Than two pro Z's come out and look at what they have achieved ( Contreras and Escort ), there out ranking all RX/7's, Supra's, 3000gt's, Eclipse's etc. Still using the Z32 VG motor. But somewhere above Pro class and below stock modified the Z32 is lost, way lost. One car out of the whole IDRC NDRA and NHRA Top 20 Street Class Cars? Where's the top 40? Does any other Z fall into the class?

One could come up a million reason on why the Z32's are just not there. Turbo placement? Could be one, hell even Escort placed there's up front where they can get to them very easly for repair or replacement. Labor and time could be another? We who have these cars know that there just not practical when it comes to major labor parts that need replaced or rebuilt.
:Just a slow Sunday and seen this list and remembering all the comments of " It's not a Mustang " , lol ( sigh )
:I feel that a lot of it was lost with Tim L. disappearing and Kyle P. pulling out. Not even sure both of them where running full slicks or not. Having trap speeds of 140mph on crappie transmission leads one to belief of what was to come. Will either come back? Who knows.............
