| Montana doesn't exactly have the same population density that some other states do. I've been to Montana, and other places which are best described as 'rural'...it's almost as if there's no law enforcement anyway. I know a guy who drove through Washington state @ 110mph in his Cobra R. No ticket. Changing the laws in such a state wouldn't change much of anything. I think a lot of those residents are already used to driving balls-out wherever they go. Or at least that's what's indicated by the people I know who live in such areas. So what happens when the speed limit is eliminated in L.A.? During rush hour, probably nothing. There will still be ridiculous traffic. However, all the ricers and import kids driving around at 3am are no longer alone on the freeway! There is no time of day which yields wide open roads anymore. There are some people in LA (Shaq, Kobe, countless rappers) who can actually afford FAST cars (Lamborghini, Ferrari, etc...) who might go for a 200mph blast while my Aunt is cruising along at 70-75 between Hermosa and Manhattan Beach in her VW EuroVan. Charming. As well, the unofficial stance of the CHP and most California police deptartments is that California freeways are not sustainable at more than 100mph. I recognize that some people already drive like assholes, but this would only make it worse. I also believe that if the drinking age was suddenly removed tomorrow, there would be countless alcohol-related deaths among the under-21 lot in the U.S. just because they could. Think of the alcohol abuse that takes place in high school...if they could suddenly do it legally, the problem would increase. Eventually the problem would go away because the novelty would wear off. But the transition time would be painful. These are just my opinions...we'll never know until it happens
