It's not about being trendy, its about the way the car feels and keeping it in balance. When you're in a sweeper going 80+mph you dont want the rear wheels doing their own thing and start twitching back and forth trying to decide if it needs to activate or not. The HICAS system isnt perfect and gets confused depending on what angle you have the steering wheel at. It's very unnerving when you're sitting there going through a turn very smoothly then the rear starts to wiggle.
